Limericks can be very funny, and children will enjoy reading them and creating their own in the classroom. In the UK, they are featured in the National Literacy Strategy (Year 3, Term 3, and again in Year 6, Term 2).

On Thursday we had a funny English lesson. Our English teacher, Mrs Anna Orłowska-Zyzało encouraged us to write poetry. She wanted us to create limericks. We didn’t know how bright we are!

There was a tall lady from Spain
Who usually flew on the plane.
Once she crashed the seal
And didn’t well feel.
So she went to the house by train.
