Day of Hungarian Culture

22 January is the day of our national anthem (written by Ferenc Kölcsey) and Hungarian culture. Class 3b presented the programme, some poems and folk songs were provided.

1989-tól kezdődően minden év január 22-én rendezik meg a Magyar Kultúra Napját, mert a kézirat tanúsága szerint 1823-ban ezen a naqpon fejezte be Kölcsey Ferenc a Himnusz című versét, mely a mai napig nemzeti himnuszunk.

In the afternoon there was the local turn of the prose-reading contest. Children from upper classes read lines from famous Hungarian writers. In the photo you can see the jury and the winners in 5-6 and 7-8 classes.

  1. What do you sing in your national anthem? Some students in the photo are wearing ties. Do you wear school uniforms?

  2. Yes, they are wearing school uniforms. This day was very important for us, so we dressed up nicely. Children do not wear their uniforms every day. Our anthem is something like a pray in which we sing about past historical events, our sorrow. It is also ceremonial and elevated.
