The fairytale of the stork Bella

Once upon a time there was a stork called Bella. She lived in Sweden, in a little village called Torsås. Everyday she flew her way to the seaside near Bergkvara where the water was clear and full of fishes.
One day when she was flying back home to her nest, she saw a very beautiful stork boy standing along the shore. His beak was reflected in the water, his legs were long and his eyes were shining. He was the most handsome boy that Bella had ever seen before!

Next morning she woke up very early and joined her stork friends. They were going to the big lighthouse outside Bergkvara for a picnic.
The sun was shining and the boats had just arrived to the harbour with their catch of fish. She and her friends rested for a while on one of the boats and couldn’t resist eating a bit.
- Fresh herring! Nam, nam!
Bella was looking for the beautiful stork boy she had seen the day before at the shore, but she couldn’t find him.
- Maybe I can see him from the lighthouse, she thought.

Bella became very sad when she realized that she probably wouldn’t be able to see the handsome stork boy again. Everyday she returned to the coast and the lighthouse to see if he was there, but he wasn’t. One day she passed a schoolgirl that was walking in the fields of Torsås where the big oaks were growing.
She pointed at one of the wind turbines and told Bella that the one that she was looking for was waiting for her there.

The schoolgirl was right! There up on one of the powerful turbine wings was the stork boy she had been looking for such a long time.
- The most beautiful view you have from the lighthouse, but the best view though from the wind turbines, the stork boy said to Bella, while they were flying away together.
-The most beautiful view is the view I’m having right now, said Bella and looked in the stork boy’s eyes.

Since the day on the wind turbine Bella and the stork boy are sharing the same nest together with their four stork kids. The nest is on a chimney that it’s warm and comfortable for the whole family. From the chimney they can see the wind turbine and every time it reminds them of that it’s worth looking for the beauty and don’t give up the thought of it!

MOBILITY - Hungary

On 21st, April, we are leaving our schools in Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania and travel to Hungary. Hungarian Students, Teachers and Parents invited us to spend a few days in Kiskunhalas to find out about history, customs and tradition of their country. We will also take part in Hungarian lessons and work on our project task. We are really exciting and looking forward to meeting our new friends.

Natural Disasters

Last week we learnt about Natural Disasters. The new words were: fire brigade, put out, flood, rescue, volcano, volcanic eruption, hurricane, earthquake, tidal wave. We read the story about Mount Etna.
It was full of mistakes and our task was to correct them.
Can you find them?

A visit to a Volcano
Mount Etna is a volcano in Sicily, Italy. It is the higher and most active volcano in Europe. Every year, hundred of people go to Mount Etna to get a close look at it!
One of Mount Etna’s bigest eruptions was in 1169. In 1928, an eruption from the volcano destroyed two villages. Since then, there has been many eruptions. On 5th June, 2000, an eruption has caused a huge cloud of smoke. The cloud blocked out the sun and everywhere were dark. Black dust covered Catania, a city close to the volcano. (…)

Elizabeth Gray-Virginia Evans "Welcome"

Look at the text once again. Can you guess what happened to Europe last week? This time it was not a volcano in the south of Europe but in the north, in Iceland. Its eruption caused many problems in Europe, especially with flights and airports.

Hyacinth & Bee

Hyacinth was a beautiful youth loved by both the god Apollo and the West Wind, Zephyr. Apollo and Hyacinth took turns at throwing the discus. Hyacinth ran to catch it to impress Apollo, but was struck by the discus as it fell to the ground, and died.[2] A twist in the tale makes the wind god Zephyrus responsible for the death of Hyacinth.[3] The youth's beauty caused a feud between Zephyrus and Apollo. Jealous that Hyacinth preferred the radiant archery god Apollo, Zephyrus blew Apollo's discus off course, so as to injure and kill Hyacinth. Apollo did not allow Hades to claim Hyacinth. Instead, Apollo made a flower, the hyacinth, from Hyacinth's spilled blood.

Easter fair 2010 in Dub nad Moravou.

It has become a tradition that a week or two before Easter teachers and students of Dub school prepare an Easter fair for the public. This year we have invited various craftmen who showed their skills and sold traditional craft products. Some of the teachers were asked to have workshops on interesting crafts like fleecing, twist art flowers, tea bag folding, egg decorating and making baskets and decorations using very thin paper rolls.
Now we can say the fair was a success. Many people when leaving it expressed their thanks and hope we would meet at another Easter fair in 2011!

He´s got the whole world in His hands

Here is the Czech version of the song chosen by Hungarian students for our meeting.

1. Najednou já svět celý v rukou mám,
najednou já svět celý v rukou mám,
svět kulatý a širý v rukou mám,
jenom ve svých rukou mám.

2. Sílu výhonků v polích v rukou mám,
krásu třešňových květů v rukou mám,
účel lampy, co svítí, v rukou mám,
jenom ve svých rukou mám.

Our magnolia

The magnolia in front of our school is a delight not only for us, but also for those walking past our school. Its mere presence cheers you up and gives everybody hope and happiness.
