There was a young man from Dealing
Who caught the bus for Ealing.
It said on the door
Don't spit on the floor
So he jumped up and spat on the ceiling.

On Thursday we had a funny English lesson. Our English teacher, Mrs Anna Orłowska-Zyzało encouraged us to write poetry. She wanted us to create limericks. We didn’t know how bright we are!

Mongol dialogues

There was a tall lady from Spain
Who usually flew on the plane.
Once she crashed the seal
And didn’t well feel.
So she went to the house by train.

There was a great painter from Greece
Who ate her own teeth.
She went to see a doctor
As she had a pain.

There was a plumber from Holland.
But maybe he was from Poland.
He didn’t like his job

Remember!

The International Holocaust Remembrance Day

On January 27, 1945, Soviet army liberated the largest Nazi death camp in Auschwitz. The United Nations designed this day as International Holocaust Remembrance Day, an annual day of commemoration to honor the victims of the Nazi era.

Theme Parks

Access 3
Theme Parks
Project
Portfolio: Work in groups. Think of a special place in your country tourists can visit. Collect information and write a short article.
• What’s its name?
• Where is it?
• What can you do/see there?
Prepare a leaflet. Stick on pictures if you like.

The Vampire Park

The Vampire Park is a very special and amazing place in Poland. There are a lot of attractions there. You can see people made from plastic. There is an impressive castle and the Vampire Museum. You can see Dracula, the king of the cold and white people. The white people can take you on a walk through dark alleys.
You can be changed into a vampire for a day. If you don’t want to be a vampire, you have to take garlic. The vampires drink blood of bad people. If you are a bad person, you mustn’t go there.
There are a lot of souvenirs: the plastic vampire teeth and black capes.
If you haven’t been to the Vampire Park, be sure to put it on your list of places to go. You’ll enjoy every minute of it!

The climate will change if ….English Lesson 51

The first and the second conditional

She will eat an apple if he gives it to her.
She would eat an apple if he gave it to her.

If we plant trees, we will reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
If we stop cutting down trees, animals won’t lose their habitats.
If we don’t buy products from endangered species, we’ll help them survive.
If we don’t leave all our lights turn on, we will save energy.
If we recycle paper, we’ll save our forests.
If we don’t leave taps running, we won’t waste water.
If we learn to respect the environment, our planet will be a better place to live in.

QUESTIONS TO OUR PARTNERS

What would you do if you saw a hungry cat?
What would you do if you found a stray dog?
What would you do if you saw a bear?
What would you do if you had more free time?
What would you do if you had a lot of money?

Could you write a few questions to be answered by Polish students?

The Disaster Area _English Lesson 50

Supervolcanoes
In this lesson to learn how to read for general understanding.
What will happen if a supervolcano erupts?

Toba is a sleeping supervolcano on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. If it erupts, the climate will change. Gas and dust will hide the sun. Lava will destroy plants and animals.

We can’t imagine the results of an eruption because there are no volcanoes in Poland. We don’t have the earthquakes either. However, we know that such natural disasters have happened.

Sebastien, a Haitian boy, 14, who lives in a suburb of the capital Port-au-Prince, had a chance to tell his story for the UNICEF radio.
After the earthquake struck, he heard his mother screaming as she ran outside. His sister was taking a shower and had fallen and hit her head. He couldn’t tell what was going on—at first, he thought someone was shooting at the house.
Soon afterward, Sebastien received tragic news: His grandparents’ house had been flattened. For days, his father and uncles dug through the rubble, trying to find them…

In 2100_ English Lesson 49

In 2007-2009 our school worked on the Comenius Project “A Slice of Bread”. Due to that project we can use a mobile interactive board now. It is much easier to learn the most difficult words if you can play at he same time. We learn the future simple in this lesson. Now we can write about life in the future. What will we use in the future?

In 2100 forests will disappear, polar bears will be extinct, birds will lose their habitats, rivers will dry up, and people will move to other planets. What a horrible place will be our world in 2100!

Our planet - English Lesson_48

On 12th January we began a new module. It is titled "Our planet". We are going to explore environmental issues. In unit “Earth –SOS” we learn to read and listen for specific information.

Global warming is causing major changes in our world. Animals and plants are trying to live with these changes. If we do not do anything to stop the speed our planet is heating up, many of these species will become endangered or even extinct!

Day of Hungarian Culture

22 January is the day of our national anthem (written by Ferenc Kölcsey) and Hungarian culture. Class 3b presented the programme, some poems and folk songs were provided.

1989-tól kezdődően minden év január 22-én rendezik meg a Magyar Kultúra Napját, mert a kézirat tanúsága szerint 1823-ban ezen a naqpon fejezte be Kölcsey Ferenc a Himnusz című versét, mely a mai napig nemzeti himnuszunk.

In the afternoon there was the local turn of the prose-reading contest. Children from upper classes read lines from famous Hungarian writers. In the photo you can see the jury and the winners in 5-6 and 7-8 classes.

A Scary Story

Write a scary short story using the plan below and past tenses (80words).
Last week we were on the ice rink in Krakow. Konrad shot a goal. We felt very happy and won a match. Our goalkeeper broke his legs. Arthur was thrilled. Patrick called an ambulance and drove to hospital. To be continued

Last year the night was cold. I and my friends were walking in the park. We saw a mirror. We touched it. Then we moved to another planet. We felt scared. We saw green people and a big black hole. We went into it. When I woke up I felt great.

Dear Kamila,

Greetings from Jules' Undersea Lodge. This is in Key Largo, Florida. I'm living in the world's only underwater hotel. I'm having the time of my life! So far, I've done scuba diving and I've got to know about the underwater world. I've already seen a lot of angelfish. They are really beautiful. So far I haven't bought any souvenirs from this place beacuse there aren't any shops in here. Tomorrow, I'm going to relax and admire the underwater world. Have you ever been in an underwater hotel? See you in a week.

New Colleagues

Maria's recommendation:
"The deputy principal, Geta Tudor, knows all the project details, some of the activities made by the school have been initiated and run by her. She also manages the project documents, reports and results.
An English teacher, Mihaela Mladenovici, is a member in the project team and she organized some of our activities: healthy lifestyle lessons, forrest trip, Christmas tree decoration. "
We welcome both Ladies to our hard-working international team!

Evaluation_2

At the end of October 2009 the coordinator of the project was informed by the National Agency in Warsaw that the Turkish school had resigned officially from the project. This means the project will be carried out by four partner schools and the mobility to the Turkish school is not acceptable.
The coordinators' meeting fulfilled its purpose. Coordinators discussed in detail the mobilities and hung them on the wiki to be easily accessible for everyone. Ms. Elneus from Sweden was the honourable guest of Eden group and helped us with some technical problems with the wiki.
After the coordinators' meeting the thematic lessons have been conducted in all four schools. Herbaria have been done.
In November the international photo contest was organised and and each school organized a display of photographs. In December various events took place and photo reports have been presented on the wiki and blog. Season greetings made by students were sent to partner schools. Younger students started feeding and observing birds. Number of events raising environmental and everyday activities have been taken in all schools: trips: to the forest, The National Institute of Meteorology, the alternative sources of energy display and also lessons about healthy lifestyle.
